Lessons with World Champion Farrier
A really exciting development for us all is having shoemaking lessons with 2009 and 2010 world champion farrier Steven Beane. Steven is based in Yorkshire and won the World Champs in Calgary this summer. We all go every 6 wks to his forge for a day to learn new skills from the best in the world. He is helping Glyn achieve his next level of qualification, by becoming an Associate in the Worshipful company of Farriers. Jamie, Ollie and James thrive on Stevens encouragement and enthusiasm and this really motivates them to come home and practice. The improvement in all 3 of us is evident and we couldn't wish for a better tutor. It also plays an important team building role and builds moral. As a consequence of this extra training our apprentices are over and above the level needed for their college course. Although this is a big expense to Equity shoeing, we feel we cannot put a price on developing our skills.
